Senior Accountant manages all phases of the record-to-report process at NexRev, to include general and sub-ledger close, sales commissions computation, sales/use tax compliance, balance sheet account reconciliations, etc. Coordinates with external financial statement auditors and consulting resources to meet periodic lender and regulatory compliance objectives. Close coordination with VP Finance & Administration on recurring analytical tasks and projects as well as weekly and longer-term project priorities.

The incumbent will directly manage two team members, one each over accounts receivable and accounts payable. Incumbent will work closely with a third teammate in charge of Payroll and human resources activities. Incumbent will report to the VP, Finance & Administration or his/her designee.

Responsibilities

Primary point of contact between VP Finance & Administration and the accounting team. The incumbent and his/her team is responsible for managing day-to-day execution of accounting and treasury/cash disbursement related tasks.

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the day-to-day accounting operation at NexRev ensuring timely accurate reporting of our operating results.
  • Perform month end close – including recording journal entries, accruals, and allocations.
  • Become an expert NetSuite user in the application environment as its installed at NexRev.  Work with the NetSuite Administrator to affect information processing and process changes to improve our accuracy and day-to-day workflow.
  • Reconcile/review all balance sheet account reconciliations and participate in periodic review meetings with account owners regarding account content, ensuring good accounting hygiene.
  • Calculate and distribute sales commissions analysis quarterly. Make recommendations regarding how to simplify the computation process.
  • Lead transactional tax compliance (sales/use tax via Avalara and annual property tax renditions) and coordinate with state tax auditors, as necessary.
  • Various role related reporting and other job duties, as assigned.

Skill requirements

  • 3 to 5+ years of full cycle accounting experience; Some combination of industry and public accounting experience.
  • 0 to 2+ years of NetSuite experience to include: NetSuite ERP or similar modern ERP software (WorkDay / Oracle).  Advanced Excel (Powerpivot, etc) and Outlook.
  • A doer with a roll-up your sleeves personality and a happy warrior attitude who can add value daily across the team.
  • Highly organized with a relentless attention to detail and a clear, thoughtful and data driven bias to action.
  • Common-sense approach connected to good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Military backgrounds are strongly encouraged/preferred.

Strongly desired skills

  • Technical accounting expertise/exposure to include ASC 606 revenue recognition in a SAAS (software as a service) environment.
  • ASC 842 Lease accounting.
  • Strong reconciliation skills.
  • Hyperion Essbase / Oracle SmartView skills; FP&A experience of any kind.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting.
  • 3 years of corporate or public accounting experience required.
  • Public accounting; 2 years experience, in an audit function.
  • Big 4 experience; Not required but is a considerable plus.
  • CPA or candidates for the exam.
