NexRev appointed to reduce major fuel and gas retailer’s electricity bills across its convenience stores and gas stations

18 July 2024 - NexRev today announced that it has been appointed to deploy its Energy and Building Management Systems (EMS/BMS) in more than 500 convenience stores and gasoline service stations across the US.

The retailer joins the 20% of Fortune 100 companies that are working with NexRev to make their buildings more energy efficient. Savings can be made across a building’s footprint — from the excess use of outside air, machines running continuously when not needed, machines running inefficiently without reliable data to call them out, to the basics of lights left on when not necessary and setpoints that are too cold or too hot.

NexRev was chosen following a pilot of the EMS/BMS of four companies across eight sites. NexRev’s Freedom solution delivered the highest level of energy savings with an ROI of just 16 months at the pilot sites.

NexRev’s Freedom, backed by additional managed services, is now being rolled out across all sites to manage and control the operations of its HVACs, freezers, coolers and fuel dispensers.

With an average of three HVACS on the rooftop of every building, the move to NexRev’s Freedom uses intelligent analytics to identify imminent HVAC operational issues with repairs undertaken immediately – enabling proactive not reactive maintenance.

NexRev’s Freedom also enables efficient, effective control of all freezers and coolers in the facilities, with temperatures adjusted remotely.

Fuel dispensers at their service stations

The business had been spending around $180,000 a month on manually resetting its fuel pumps when electronic failures result in inaccurate fuel recording and charging. This can now be done remotely by NexRev.

Chris Haidet, NexRev’s President and COO, said “As electricity prices continue to rise, finding new ways to reduce the amount of energy used in commercial buildings is now a board-level issue at organizations large and small across the US. We are helping our customer to achieve significant energy savings across its business”.

The rollout of NexRev’s Freedom for over 500 sites will be completed by October.

About NexRev Freedom

Freedom’s software provides a centralized view of connected devices, sensors and meters within commercial buildings – which can number many thousands of devices

Freedom gives energy managers the ability to compare energy usage across multiple sites and buildings – and then investigate why some structures use more energy than others. The reason could be as simple as hot air being let into a building through a door that is constantly left open.

Freedom acts as the central hub for receiving, viewing, monitoring and analyzing data across single or multiple buildings.  It constantly assesses the conditions within a building. For example, temperatures are monitored so that HVACs can be adjusted via DrivePak.
